Let’s face it– most of us are wanting ahead to some hotter climate. Because the forecast is wanting a bit of chilly (however sunny) I assumed that I would use this time to speak a couple of COLDER March 5/6 that occurred six years in the past. In 2015, Maryland was hit with a winter blast that introduced routine altering snowfall AND file chilly temperatures.
Let’s speak snow totals. Most areas picked up between 5 and ten inches. There have been some outliers that picked up a foot of snow!
Then, there’s the temperature element. At BWI, we set a brand new file low when temperatures plummeted to 10° early March sixth. The earlier file for that date occurred twice– in 1873 and 1901… over 100 years in the past! Winds have been a bit elevated so we had some critical wind chills — with really feel like temperatures hovering under zero! Some notable wind chills have been:
-12° in Myersville -5° in Reisterstown -1° in Baltimore
Washington DC obtained important snow as properly…. appears like everybody determined to get out and play… Simply Kidding!! — here is President Barack Obama headed for Marine One on March sixth.
