Aug 19, 2020; Owings Mills, Maryland, USA; Baltimore Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith (22) warms up earlier than the morning session of coaching camp at Below Armour Efficiency Heart. Obligatory Credit score: Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports activities

The Baltimore Ravens mentioned cornerback Jimmy Smith and his household are secure after they had been robbed at gunpoint on Tuesday after being adopted from Los Angeles Worldwide airport.

“We’re conscious of the scenario involving Jimmy Smith,” the Ravens said in a press release, that didn’t present extra particulars. “We now have spoken with Jimmy and he and his household are secure.”

Within the meantime, spokespeople from the Los Angeles Police Division and the L.A. Sheriff’s Division mentioned they had been unaware of the alleged crime and didn’t have a police report, in keeping with ESPN.

Smith, 32, lately signed a one-year contract extension that might be value as much as $5 million with the Ravens, who took him twenty seventh total within the 2011 NFL Draft.

Smith made 27 tackles and recovered a fumble in 11 video games (5 begins) this season. He’s made 356 tackles, 14 interceptions and two fumble recoveries in 118 video games (88 begins).
